Facebouffe

“To date, the Facebook phenomenon has more than 400 million users of which 50% are active on the network. More than 160 million companies are present too. Do not look for me, I’m not there, but most of my students are and the network has become, it seems, a must for them and many others. This phenomenon is not without changing human relationships and substantially modifies the border of privacy and what is public domain.
In some ways, the phenomenon is linked to mass consumption in proposing disposable and exchangeable relationships. To respond to this phenomenon, Audrey Wells has imagined those little chocolate squares packed randomly with Facebook’s portraits and their personal profile. Like the famous social network, when you buy this chocolate “Facebouffe” you do not know who it will matter but you can fill this obsessive curiosity to meet all the characters more virtual than real.”

I found this interesting idea via one of my favourite food blogs. From there I got redirected to what I presume to be the main site and creator of these unique little chocolate tidbits. Feeding off of the irony and popularity of Facebook, these little chocolates are wrapped with miniature photos of your friends, profile picture and all. Inside their profile info can be found to your delight. A total random sampling of your friends in chocolate form for your enjoyment.  This idea was brought to the world by Audrey Wells stating it the Facebouffe project. Would you be willing to buy some?

Funky Recycling

“My name is Christine Esposito. I am the mother of 2 teens and live in Las Vegas, NV. Crafting for nearly my entire life…I had my first “professional” craft show at age 18 and made almost $500! I was HOOKED!! Fast forward 28 years later…still crafting! Having spent many years in craft retail and teaching crafts professionally, I love all types of arts and crafts!

Being concerned with the environment and wanting to be more eco-friendly, for the last 3 years I have worked with funky stuff including, discarded aluminum cans, bottle caps, old denim, catalogs, junk mail, and more! Besides my online shop, I sell my items at local craft and art shows & green events in Vegas all year long.

Funky Recycling – Saving the earth…one can at a time & keepin’ it green!”The Artist

I found this great site via a member’s post on Luuux. It features recycled art but pieces that you can wear besides simply admiring it. She primarily uses recycled cans and turns them into wearable jewelry or magnets.

This is a perfect way to reduce, reuse and recycle. The Hello Kitty necklaces in particular come in a wide variety of drink cans and look so adorable. It’s a great mix between unique and stylish and at a relatively cheap price. She also does necklaces in cupcake shapes and heart shaped earrings. She makes magnets as well for those who’d rather admire it than wear it. Her Etsy shop has an even greater variety of shapes. So I encourage you to check it out!

Save water, be environmentally conscious!

Fish Bowl Faucet + Yan Lu + GOOD

I saw this interesting faucet idea through a link on someone’s tumblr and had to share it with everyone. The concept behind it is that it forces users to be conscious of their water usage or else the poor fishy will die and not have enough water to survive. Using the same tap system as normal faucets, the fish bowl is then replenished over time returning it back to normal water levels. Of course it has many logistical problems but the overall concept is a positive one. It brings conservation at the forefront of the user’s mind and making the effects of their choices direct and real. That is until you get a mean jerk who actually wants to see the fishy die and I’m sure there’s bound to be at least one. Read more of this post

Re-usable art

“The goal of Recyclart.org is to bring you good products that are made from re-cycling, re-using, up-cycling,etc. We will not bother you with a lot of text or details, we prefer to give you inspiration through pictures and the link where you can find more informations. The goal is to be a kind of portfolio based on  ideas in which you can brainstorm your creativity.” - About

Every once in a while, people post some decent links of facebook that actually attract my attention. From  that one link, it typically sends me into a whole new digital adventure, exploring  websites I wouldn’t normally come across. Though one adventure I came across this unique site featuring Recycled and Reused Art.

The desk above was the one that stood out the most as  it made me wish I can kept all of my old un-used books scattered throughout my home to possible make a coffee table out of. I’m sure the idea isn’t anything 100% unique and has been thought of by someone else but its just nice to see it in a grand scale such as portrayed in this library reference desk. Although I’m sure these books would have made their way to the recycling bin, they’ve potentially saved numerous trees that would have probably gone into the creation of a solid wooden desk as seen in most libraries. Cool stuff right? Read more of this post
